Washing Machine Rubber Gasket Care
Keeping the washing machine gasket dry helps prevent moisture buildup, residue, and odors. Follow these steps after each wash and during routine cleaning to maintain proper performance.
🧼 Instructions to Keep Washing Machines Rubber Gasket Dry & Prevent Moisture Buildup
After Every Wash:
1. Leave the Door Open
Leave the washer door slightly open after each use to allow moisture to evaporate. This is the most effective way to prevent unpleasant residue or moisture-related buildup from forming.

2. Wipe the Rubber Gasket Dry
Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth or towel to wipe:
Around the inside of the rubber gasket.
In the crevices and folds where water tends to collect.

3. Remove and Dry the Detergent Tray (if removable)
Pull out the detergent dispenser and let it air dry or wipe it thoroughly.
Unpleasant residue can develop in damp detergent buildup.

Quarterly Deep Clean (Optional but Recommended):
4. Inspect for Debris or Trapped Items
Check the gasket for small clothing items (socks, etc.), hair, or buildup. Remove any visible grime or detergent residue.
5. Clean the Gasket with a Vinegar Solution or use the Sugelary Stain Cleaner Gel
Apply the solution or gel throughout the gasket area using gloves and a cloth.
Let it sit for 2–3 hours, then wipe away any excess with a clean cloth.
For heavier buildup, the process may need to be repeated 2–3 times.

6. Run a Cleaning Cycle
Use a washing machine cleaning tablet or:
2 cups of white vinegar.
Run a hot cycle (without clothes).
Optional: add 1/4 cup of baking soda directly to the drum.
7. Dry All Parts
After the cycle, wipe down the gasket, door, and drum thoroughly.
Pro Tips:
Avoid liquid fabric softeners (they leave residue).
Use HE (High-Efficiency) detergent in the correct amount.
Do not overuse bleach, as it can degrade the rubber over time.
